Style Spotlight: Nicoli

It's very common for us to look to celebs for style inspiration, seeing as though they get first dibs on everything [from trends to pieces]. However, I've come to find that those around me have a bigger influence on my choice of wears than anything else. Celebs, most often, have stylists so it's very rare that we get a chance to see their 'personal' style. For instance, my love for Rihanna's look spawned from the work of Mariel Haenn. ...But my love for Nicoli's look came from the creative dresser herself.

--more after the jump--

I love her style, solely, for it's diversity. She can be glam one day, preppy the next and if you're fast enough - maybe you'll catch Coli The Hipster kickin' and pushin' [no skateboard] her way from Brooklyn to Manhattan and so forth.

Recently I got a chance to ask Coli a few questions regarding fashion faves and career goals.
-check it out below-
1. I've known you since h.s. and even then I'd say you were an innovator of style. When it comes to putting a look together, what inspires you most?

I would honestly have to say the weather! If the sun is out, you tend to see me in an outfit that stands out--if it's cloudy, the outfit isn't too loud, but it still says "...oh please, you can't stop the fashionista in me!" My inspiration is just to think and know that it is okay to think outside the box in any type of weather and/or season!

2. Who are some of your favorite designers?

I don't really have a favorite designer to be completely honest and that's mainly because I shop THRIFT! To me a designer is a piece of clothing/shoe/accessory that screams "I'm different you need me in your closet girl!"

3. If you had to choose one place to shop for the rest of your life, where would it be?

THRIFT SHOP! THRIFT SHOP! THRIFT SHOP! I have a knack for making old things new again!

4. Are you looking to have a career in fashion? [If so, what might that be? ...If not, what direction would you say you're going in?]

When I was younger, I wanted to design; but as I grew I realized [that] there is more to fashion than designing. I currently work at H&M, and I am seeing that the styling aspect of fashion is what I want to do! So, Visual Merchandising or Fashion Merchandising or Styling!

5. Lastly, what's one quote that you love to live by?

"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn."
-Gore Vidal
