Dear Diary | The Lion's Den

[written last night before I fell asleep on the job]

It's rather late.
& though I neeeed to be sleep, I've opted against it to share my thoughts.
As I type, my vanilla candle's flickering and Oprah just bid farewell to her loyal night crawlers.
I'm hungry. ..Though I did just eat what's known as "the best burger in NYC" from this super famous burger joint that wraps your burger up all nice, then hands you your fries in a grease stained brown paper bag.
Still, it was bomb.

About me: I surf the net daily for nothing in particular yet I always come across really great pictures that tell a story way before I do. ..& as you've seen, I have a photo to depict almost exactly what's being written or simply to set the tone of my Diary entries. ..This photo of Alicia sold itself to me before I was personally convinced that it was worth saving. For some reason, brown/caramel pompadours remind me of lions.
In this case, a lioness. It's an attribute that we all share. It's one of strength, dignity, courage, ferocity, royalty and power.

I look at the picture above and it's symbolic in a way that I've actually, finally, gotten up and smelled the Joe.
I went about my day, not with a cup in my hand - but with my funky do, erect posture and mental clarity [which I'm sure forced  a look of "Hey! Yea, I'm Tierra. & you..?" upon my face].
I wore a different kind of energy & I think it worked out for the best.

In each area of my day I was uplifted.
It started with my interview, then while watching Morning Glory. It continued as I read "Get Yours" by Amy DuBois Barnett, and progressed as I later mixed, mingled and networked.
& as I came home, Superwoman by A.Keys unintentionally filled my ears.

The lion, though primarily a nocturnal creature, is considered by many ancient cultures to be a solar animal symbol. The lioness, however, is considered to be a lunar animal serving as a symbolic message of balance and sound judgement . It bears a message of prudence to us - asking us not to overdo it in certain areas of our lives but to keep an even mind and an overall balance in our life activities.

Would you say that you live a balanced life?
If so, how so?
If not, how do you plan to get there?
[name one thing]

I feel this is definitely a time of renewal. The universe has been poking and prodding, relentlessly, waiting for acknowledgement. ...well, here it is.
& one thing I plan to do in order to obtain a balanced life...?
-make no excuses for myself so that I grow from experiences to avoid repeating them.

-xx

I love that you will make no excuses for yourself.

So often, we're so worried about what others will think if we admit our mistakes, but not admitting them only destines us to repeat them over and over again.

Love your blog. I've been following it for a month or so. I placed a link to it from my blog - www.observerofvanities.com.

Great stuff.

Awesome attitude. My life is not at all balanced, and I know it. My priorities are all messed up, even though I know what I should be focusing on. It just seems so hard that I'm scared to take the first steps, especially given the things that have deterred me in the past. Long story :X

Thanks Shana. You're so right, we do worry too much about other opinions but the lesson is to get right with yourself so that what someone says is considered but never the determining factor of who you are.

Thanks so much for following! I'll be sure to check out your blog. ;)

My Dear Miss Ed,
You're in a better place than you think. You've recognize these things about yourself and are obviously discontent. Therefore, change is right around the corner. We all go through these points and I have no doubts that you'll be beautifully balanced in no time!

Thanks for following <3
