This has to be the longest post that I've ever put together in all of the 3 years that I've been blogging and honestly, keeping it terse, never crossed my mind once.
I owe my inspiration for this post to make-up artist, Antoinette Dowden whom I recently requested on Facebook after truly being intrigued by her tutorials. Well, today she posted a few pics of a tribal inspired makeup look that she put together [below] and from then I couldn't get my thoughts to stand still.
Thinking to myself "tribal's definitely in for Spring/Summer '10" prompted me to do a search for some of the hottest tribal looks that fashion had to offer. I first rummaged through Dries Van Noten's archive, where I found this well put together video of his SS10 looks, thanks to Style.Com [and of course YouTube].
I loved what he gave on the runway. The prints were beautiful and the pieces were very airy and free. If I could, I'd honestly devote my summer 'drobe to his collection but my next find wouldn't allow it.
Catherine Malandrino?! ...I'm very familiar with her work but who's rock was I hiding under when her collection was being displayed?! ...I've always known her to kick ass but she did A LOT more than that, which is why *inserts Lambchop jingle* this-is-the-post-that-doesn't-end..
...silence, please!
SUDANESE CLANS
SAHARAN NOMADS
PERUVIAN TRIBE
POLYNESIAN NATIVES
...was it worth it ?
..I'd say so.
I reeeeallly like this collection. Everything about it. From the hairstyles to the painted on tribal tats - I've been won over.
Hope you enjoyed ;)
